Okomfuor Kwadee sends sad important message to Akufo-Addo

Ghanaian rapper, Jerry Anaba,  known in showbiz as Okomfuor Kwadee is asking the President of the Republic to pay special attention to the state of mental health in the country.

According to Kwadee, President Akufo-Addo must issue a directive to Ghana Health Service in order to improve mental health conditions nationwide.

The rapper made the statement on Tuesday at the Willing Ways Foundation rehabilitation centre at Kwamo in the Ashanti Region when a delegation from MUSIGA visited him.

On behalf of all the people here, I plead on our leaders, especially the President and all the chiefs to help create awareness for people to stop neglecting those with mental problems. We should all pay attention to such people and let them feel part of society,” he said.

Kwadee who has suffered some mental issues over the years said he is recovering and his comeback will focus on drug abuse and its effect on the youth.

“When I come back, the message is going to be more about the youth and how to come out of all these drug abuse and street kind of life,” he hinted.

The visit by some top executives of Musicians’ Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), was hastened by recent media reports that the musician has been abandoned at the rehab centre by his family.

The Union’s executives, led by Ras Caleb Appiah Levi, the Greater Accra Chairman of MUSIGA donated packs of sachet water, drinks and an undisclosed amount of money to Kwadee for his personal upkeep.

About six years ago, Kwadee who was at the peak of his career was reported to have been hit by some mentally health issues.
This hit hard at Kwadee’s music career as his condition worsened and was taken to the Willing Ways Foundation rehabilitation centre.

However, the leader of the rehab centre, Lydia Abena Manu, few weeks ago told the media that the rapper had been neglected by family and friends.

This kept people wondering what his condition was, but according to MUSIGA executives who called on him, Kwadee is doing better than before.

The respected rapper shoot to fame years ago with his unique rap songs such as ‘Aboro ne Bayie’, ‘Ataa Adwoa’, ‘Ka Wo Nan to So,’ among others.

Some reports indicates that he is currently recording songs which will be released onto the music market soon.
