Trotro 'mate' in trouble for vanishing with sales

Kweku Asare, a 39-year old bus conductor, has been sentenced to four months in prison by the Ashaiman Circuit Court for stealing sales made for a day.
The convict, who resides at Fitta-lane, a suburb of Ashaiman, pleaded guilty with explanation to the charges of conspiring to commit crime and stealing.
According to him, it was not his intention to steal the money, but a friend of his came to him with an
emergency and he offered to help.

He explained that his friend claimed his mother was ill and he therefore needed financial help to remedy the situation.
Asare added that his friend was supposed to return the money the same day, but he didn’t hear from him.
Fearing for the worst, he decided to disappear, as he could not produce the sales made for the day.

The accused was arrested by personnel of the Motor Transport and Traffic Department (MTTD) at the Ashaiman Market after a complaint was lodged by his master, Musa Yusif, to the Ashaiman Police.
