Luka Modric beat Ronaldo and Mohamed Salah to win UEFA player of the Year award

Real Madrid superstar Luka Modric has been named the UEFA Champions League player of the year at a ceremony held in Monaco, France on Thursday evening, August 28.
The Croatia international defeated Juventus forward Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah to win the UEFA award in Monaco.
Last season, Luka Modric was superb for Real Madrid helping them to win the 2017/18 Champions League title beating Liverpool in the final in Kiev.

He also led his national team to the final of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia losing to France in the final.


Atinkanews.com earlier reported how Juventus and Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo made the final three man shortlist of players that fought for the 2017/18 UEFA player of the year award.
But despite his superb goal scoring form for Real Madrid last season, the Juventus star was beaten by Croatia international Luka Modric who won the award in France.
