New Overlord of the Dagbon Kingdom Ya-Na Mahama Abukari II says the brand new Jaguar presented to him immediately after his coronation was from a close friend.
There were reports the brand new car was gifted to the Ya-Na by President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Speaking to TV3’s Komla Klutse in an interview at his Gbewaa Palace on Saturday, Ya-Na Abukari II rejected reports that the car was presented owing to a formal request he made.
Speaking through an interpreter, the paramount chief said the gift came as a surprise to him, hence his facial expression on Friday when it was presented.

He said he was excited by the gesture as he did not expect it.
He, however, stopped short of mentioning the donor, saying it will be unfair to disclose his name in public, though the person is a close associate.
He said he has received gifts before, one of which is his Rolex watch.
