Sam George beat£n by macho men at Ayawaso by-election

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Prampram, Sam Dzata George, has been assaulted by some macho men at the Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency during Thursday’s by-election.

According to the MP, the men who beat him up are members of the NPP’s Invincible Forces dressed in National Security shirts and vests.

Mr. George’s assault was captured on video. In the video, you will see the MP being heckled and attacked by masked men wielding guns in the ongoing by-election at Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency.

Over 40 men were seen chasing the MP as they hurled insults and slapped him. Some armed men clothed in black Tee shirts and khaki stormed the La Bawalashie Presby polling station.

According to eyewitnesses the armed men fired shots and attacked some agents believed to be opposition NDC agents. The shots lasted about 20 minutes.

Police intervened as the attacks continued. The men, according to eyewitnesses, also stormed the home of NDC candidate, Delali Kwesi Brempong.

Contesting the seat for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is Lydia Seyram Alhassan, the spouse of the late MP, while Delali Kwasi Brempong of the NDC will be hoping to capture a seat that the NPP has held since 2000.

Also in the race are William Dowokpor of the Progressive People’s Party, (PPP) and Clement Boadi of the Liberal Party of Ghana. Some Ghanaians have also criticised the actions actions of the men.
