PDS staff attacked with cutlass over dumsor at Kokrobite

A Communications consultant at the Ministry of Energy who made the disclosure on Facebook urged the public to bear with staff of PDS.

We plead with all Ghanaians and consumers of power to please be a bit more considerate in their actions. Yesterday, as a staff of PDS/ECG worked to restore power to residents around krokrobite, they were attacked and beaten. One of the men working to restore power sustained a cutlass wound on his nose. This is very unfortunate.

As various teams are out in the field working to restore power in the problematic areas, please let’s guarantee their safety, so they can deliver for us. It is essential for our own good,” Nana Damoah wrote.

PDS, who in March 2019, took over the management of electricity in the country from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), on Sunday, explained in a statement that the power outages that hit Accra and parts of the country was due to the massive rainstorm earlier Sunday morning.

According to PDS, the rainstorm uprooted trees and brought down billboards on their distribution conductors, causing interruptions in their distribution system leading to outages.

The company, however, urged affected customers to note that their engineers are working assiduously to rectify the faults and restore power supply.
