More than 70 people dead in a VVIP bus crash on Tamale-Kintampo road

More than 70 passengers have been confirmed dead in a gory accident which took place in the early hours of today, Friday 22nd March 2019.

The accident occurred at Amoma Nkwanta, a village near Kintampo in the Kintampo North Municipality of the Bono East Region, along the main Kintampo-Tamale Highway.

The VVIP bus with the registration number GT 3915-17 was traveling from Upper East Region specifically, Garu when it crashed head-on into a Grandbird bus with registration number GT 5694-18 which was traveling from Accra to Upper East Region capital, Bolgatanga.

It is unclear what might have caused the collision but according to reports  Atinkanews.net has gathered , one of the drivers was dozing and lost control of the vehicle but we are waiting for the official report from the police for confirmation.

According to eyewitnesses  Survivors have been rescued from the accident scene to various hospitals within the Techiman and Kintampo enclave for emergency medical attention,

Personnel from the Police and Fire Service are currently on the ground to remove the bodies splayed out on the road, and also move the buses from the accident scene to ensure free flow of traffic.
