Kennedy Agyapong, Net 2 slapped with 100 million defamation suit

Maverick New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP Kennedy Agyapong and his Net2 television have been sued for defamation by a Lebanese-born Ghanaian businessman Hassan Zein.

Zein took legal action against the lawmaker and his television station, NET 2, for false allegations levelled against him in a documentary.

According to the businessman, all efforts by his team to get Kennedy Agyapong to retract and apologise for defaming him have been unsuccessful.

Mr Hassan Zein disclosed that the showing of the documentary, in December 2018, has defamed him and damaged his reputation.

According to the documentary, Mr Zein was involved in money laundering, fraud, drugs, corruption deals and also swindled clients in Mali, Benin, Nigeria, Togo and other countries.

Plaintiff avers that the video clip, together with the commentary and the discussions that followed soon after the clip, were highly and seriously defamatory and damaging to his reputation and businesses,” according to a writ spotted by Atinkanews.net
