Rescue of Canadian girls: 4 Nigerians arrested by police

Ghana police have arrested four Nigerians after the rescue of the two Canadian nationals abducted in Kumasi in the Ashanti region.

In the early hours of Wednesday, 12th June 2019, a team of BNI personnel and National Security rescued the 2 Canadian volunteers who were kidnapped last week in Kumasi.

Ahead of the official press briefing at 3pm today, the media have already airing details preview to them.

Sampson Nyamekye of Kumasi based Hello Fm revealed some details he got from his sources within the National Security.

According to him, the security team rescued the girls in an isolated house at Kenyasi, Kumasi.

The security battled the kidnappers and was able to overpower them before they could rescue the girls.

The ringleader of the Kidnapping Gang is a Nigerian and the armed men who battled the police team are his Nigerian bodyguards.

11 others have been arrested in connection to this very case and all of them are Ghanaians.

The government has meanwhile taken the opportunity to assure Ghanaians as well as travellers that the country remains safe.
