Two Canadian nationals abducted in Kumasi rescued one week after they were kidnapped

The two volunteers, believed to be Canadians, who were kidnapped in the Ashanti Region have been rescued, according to the government.

The two women, 19 and 20 years old, were kidnapped at Royal Golf Club at Ahodwo, a suburb of Kumasi.

The ladies, who were kidnapped at gun point, were reportedly rescued on Wednesday morning by a police SWAT team.

It is gathered that the driver of the vehicle used for the kidnapping who is a mechanic and one other person have since been arrested and are assisting the security agencies to unravel the identity of the other kidnappers.

A statement from the Minister of Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said more details of the rescue will be revealed soon.
