NAM1 not in police custody- OXY FM boss claims

The owner of Oxy FM, Alfred Kwame Larbi, has claimed that Nana Appiah Mensah, the embattled CEO of Menzgold, is not in police custody.

Mr Alfred Kwame Larb, claims the Menzgold boss is cooling off in his East Legon residence in a radio interview.

He did not provide any evidence to back his claim but explained that being in police custody is not the same as being in prison custody.

Even when the host has raised doubt about his claims, the entertainment critic noted that he is aware the embattled CEO was cooling off at home.

He also raised concerns over the lack of clarity on the issues surrounding the controversial issues of Menzgold.

According to him, reports from the media have not been clear with everyone giving their own version of the story.

NAM1 was picked up by the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service when he touched down in Accra last Thursday.

He was arraigned before court on Friday and charged with defrauding 16,000 people of GH¢1.68 billion.

He has been charged with two counts of abetment to defraud by false pretence and two counts of abetment to carry out banking business without licence, contrary to Section 6 (1) of the Banks and Specialised Deposit-taking Institutions Act, 2016 (Act 930).

Two of his companies — Brew Marketing Consult and Menzgold Ghana Limited — represented by him, have each been charged with defrauding by false pretence, contrary to sections 20 (1) and 13 (1) of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29).
