I have tried really hard not to come with the baby, but today I had an emergency; what was I supposed to do? If parliament had a nursery or a creche I would be able to put my baby there.” She went on to add that, “Now as we ask for more women to come into parliament, you need to provide a family friendly atmosphere.” Hassan told CNN .

According to parliamentary house rules ”strangers” are not permitted within the chamber leading to Speaker Christopher Omulele ordering Hassan to leave in footage broadcast live on parliamentary TV.

The MP said the incident was another reminder for the government and the public sector to provide family-friendly workspaces for mothers.

We are trying to encourage more women to come into politics, to come into the workspaces, to get out and help out the economy in other ways, so we have to support them,” Hassan told CNN.
