The event is observed on September 21 of every year to honour the founding fathers of our Motherland.

Ghanaians, on Monday, September 23, 2019, observed the holiday to celebrate the birthday of Dr Kwame Nkrumah and he would have been 110 years in 2019 if he was still alive.
Although, the birthday celebration of Ghana’s first president fell on Saturday, September 21, 2019 but authorities had to pushed it to Monday as how all holidays which fall on weekends are observed.
