SɛxForGrades: University of Ghana finally cracks whip on Gyampo & Butakor over exposé

Authorities of the University of Ghana (UG) has officially responded to the “SɛxForGrades” exposé which implicated two of the school’s lecturers.

Professor Ransford Gyampo and Dr Paul Kwame Butakor who have been implicated in the exposé have been interdicted by the University of Ghana.

In a statement released by the University’s administration, the University said it does not condone any form of sɛxual harassment and condemns such acts.

“The University of Ghana’s attention has been drawn to a BBC documentary entitled “SɛxForGrades” Undercover in West African Universities fully aired in the evening of October7, 2019,” the statement reads.

“…The Business and Executive Committee of the University has taken a decision to interdict Prof. Ransford Gyampo and Dr Paul Kwame Butakor, the two lecturers featured in the documentary to allow for further investigations into the matter. In line with University regulations, the two will be invited by the Anti-Sɛxual Harassment Committee in the next few days to assist with further investigations into the BBC documentary,” the statement partly read.

Earlier today, the head of the university’s anti-sexual harassment committee Dr Margaret Amoakohene had stated that there was not enough evidence to back the SɛxForGrades allegation against the two lecturers.

According to Dr Amoakohene, though there was some misconduct on the part of the lecturers, it is not a case of ‘SɛxForGrades’ as the title depict.
