Ghanaian musician Tic threatens to sue Wizkid for copyright infringement

Ghanaian highlife artiste, Tic known privately as Nana Kwaku Okyere Duah has vowed to sue Nigerian singer Wizkid over copyright infringement.

Wizkid sampled the chorus of Tic’s 2004 hit song Fefe Ne Efe’ in his verse on DJ Tunez’s song titled ‘Gbese’ without giving him the necessary credit.

In an interview with with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz , Tic said he would take legal action against Wizkid if the singer fails to pay for sampling his song.

As a matter of fact, the lawyers are working on it. There has been some discussions. We are on it “. he revealed.

The ‘Kwani Kwani’ hit maker also disclosed that Wizkid’s team had proposed a settlement fee but he felt the amount they mentioned was not enough.

If they don’t pay of course I will sue them. There has been a lot of discussions going on….some figures mentioned but, there is some things going on” he added.

Tic dropped his ‘Fefe Ne Efe’ tune featuring Tony Tetuila in 2004.

In May 2019, DJ Tunez featured Wizkid and Blaqjerzee on his song titled ‘Gbese’.

Wizkid, who delivered the chorus of the song, sampled the chorus of Tic’s ‘Fefe Ne Efe’ tune.
