Kobe Bryant Memorial: Alicia Keys performs ‘Moonlight Sonata’ at Kobe Bryant Tribute

American musician, singer, Alicia Augello-Cook, known professionally as Alicia Keys, tribute to Kobe Bryant during the “Celebration of Life for Kobe and Gianna Bryant” service was beautiful.

During the public memorial held inside Los Angeles’ Staples Center on Monday, the singer sweetly performed a song on the piano that held a very special meaning to the late NBA star and his wife, Vanessa Bryant.

Dressed in purple, Keys performed Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” on a purple piano. It’s a song Bryant once learned to play, by ear, for his wife of 20 years.

Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka revealed that Kobe taught himself to play the classical composition to show his love for Vanessa.

While he was away, he wanted to live in his love for Vanessa so at night under the moonlit sky, he vowed to teach himself by ear to play the first movement of Beethoven’s ‘Moonlight Sonata,’” said Pelinka.
