Coronavirus: Shoppers storm mall for night buying over fears in rising COVID-19 cases

A video has surfaced of shoppers joining long queues to buy and hoard food amid the rising number of Coronavirus cases with one confirmed dead.

President Akufo-Addo announced in a broadcast on Saturday, 21, 2020, updated actions to prevent further spread of the disease since the number of COVID-19 infected persons currently stand at 21 with the country recording its first Coronavirus death on March 21, 2020.

In a broadcast to the nation on Saturday, March 21, 2020, President Akufo-Addo said anybody who comes into the country, before midnight on Sunday, will be mandatorily quarantined and tested for the virus.

He said all the country’s borders- land, air and sea- will be closed to human traffic at midnight on Sunday for the next two weeks.

Among other actions taken, the Ministry of Health will ensure that all persons that have been identified as having into contact with the infected person will be tested.

He further announced the arrival of 50,000 Coronavirus test kits into the country and are expected in the country shortly.

In spite of these measures, it appears many are weary of the actions outlined and are taking personal steps to protect themselves and hoard food amid rising cases of the COVID-19.

A recent video making rounds on social media shows some people in queues for coronavirus shopping.
