Movie producer shuts down claims that he died due to coronavirus

Nollywood actor Alkali Matt, popularly known as Dareng, has died while filming on set.

He passed away on 24th March at around 7pm. He is very popular for his role as Dareng in the African Magic series Halita.

According to Halita production company, Familiar Grounds Media, he was one of the much-valued cast on the set. The executive producer, Dimbo Atiya, announced the sad news on her Instagram page.

Atiya prayed that the Lord will grant Matt’s family the fortitude to bear the loss and wished him a peaceful rest.

Not long after the news was announced, controversial journalist Kemi Olunloyo had reported that the actor passed away after being exposed to someone who had coronavirus.

Atiya immediately shared another Instagram post to shut down the claims. The executive producer revealed that Matt had a blood clot condition and he was always treating with doctors, but the actor recently sort out a traditional solution.

The executive producer also added that the cause of his death has not been revealed. Atiya said the production company offered to do an autopsy but his family members said they wanted to bury their son in peace.

In the statement, it was added that Matt never attended the African Magic Viewers Choice Awards.

Atiya made it clear that even if Matt had contact with anyone who had coronavirus it was not on Halita set because he stopped filming on their set a month ago and they shut down on Monday, March 23.
