COVID-19: Shatta Wale commends Akufo-Addo for setting some prisoners free

Dancehall artist Shatta Wale has showered Praises on President of Ghana, H.E Akufo-Addo for granting amnesty to deserving prisoners.

President Nana Akufo-Addo in consultation with the Council of State today granted amnesty to 808 convict prisoners.

Upon recommendation by prisons service on measures to fight Covid-19, the President in accordance with Article 72 (1) of the constitution, President Akufo-Addo granted Amnesty to 808 prisoners yesterday 26th March, 2020.

Shatta Wale had earlier suggested that as the country fights the outbreak of the deadly coronavirus, prisoners should also be freed as a way to decongest our prisons.

But most Ghanaians were not in favour of the ‘Melissa’ hitmaker’s suggestion.

Shatta Wale upon analysing the importance of the Amnesty granted by the President, he deemed it as beneficial to the country at large as measures to reduce the spread of the pandemic virus in Ghana.
