COVID-19: Stop acting like pressure groups – Methodist priest tells pastors

The superintendent Minister of the calvary Methodist church at Amakom in the Kumasi Metropolis, Rt.Rev stephen Bosomtwi – Ayensu has slammed some men of God who are putting pressure on the government to consider lifting the ban on public and social congregation even as the cases of the novel COVID-19 continue to rise day in day out.

Over the weekend, a document was published that detailed how churches intended to adhere to safety protocols at their premises should the ban be lifted a day before the president’s address on Sunday night.

The document which had been singed by the christian council of Ghana, the Ghana Pentecostal and charismatic council, the catholic Bishop conference and the Association of christian and charismatic churches, was purported to have been tabled before the president from consideration.

The founder and leader of the life Assembly Worship Centre and leader of the Ghana Union Movement(GUM), Rev. Christian K. Andrews popularly known as Osofo Kyiriabosom had also said God would punish the president if he didn’t allow churches to begin to assemble.

Rt.Rev. Bosomtwe Ayensu said those pastors are behaving like pressure groups and are doing so because they are losing out on offerings and tithes.

He said that the president must rather be lauded for the leadership he has so far shown in the fight against the pandemic and pray that God intervenes as soon as possible.
