“Ghana to rebuild demolished Nigerian High Commission complex” – Ayorkor Botchwey

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey has given assurance notice that Ghana will re-established the devastated building belonging to Nigerian High Commission.

The Minister disclosed that the Ghanaian government will start the rebuilding after it is done with its investigations into the destruction of building.

Interacting with the media in Accra, the Minister revealed that, as part of their government plans the land will be registered in the name of the Nigerian High Commission.

“The Lands Commission will proceed to issue a Land Title Certificate to the High Commission of Nigeria to regularize its ownership of the property in question…The Government of Ghana will ensure that the demolished building is restored to its original state as soon as possible,” she said.

The destruction of the building has since attracted public outbursts and put a strain on the good international relations between Ghana and Nigeria.

However, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo rendered an unqualified apology to President Muhammadu Buhari of Nigerian over the demolition of the property at the residence of the Nigerian High Commissioner in Accra,Ghana.
