Simi apologises to LGBT community over homophobic comments on YouTube

Nigerian songstress Simisola Kosoko, better known by her stage name Simi,has apologised over the homophobic comments she made about the LGBT community.

The 32-year-old singer during her YouTube show called ‘Stoopid Sessions” had said that homos£xuality is not natural.

Simi said “They (LGBT) say they’re born that way, but I haven’t seen any biological proof”.

The commentary soon ignited a backlash on social media and weeks later, Simi took to Twitter tender an apology to the LGBT community.

The music star took to her Twitter page on Monday, August 3, 2020, where she tendered an unreserved apology over the comments she made during her YouTube show ‘Stoopid Sessions.’

Simi, while stating that she understands what discrimination is as a woman, said that no one deserves the hate the LGBT community gets.

“I carelessly and casually addressed an issue that is a matter of life and death for many. It was not my intention to you, but I did and I am sorry,” part of the apology note read.
