The National Lottery Authority(NLA) has collaborated with the Volta Regional Police Command to arrest four Facebook lotto fraudsters in the Volta Region.
The fraudster aged between 19 and 22 are Kelvin Kwame Abouzi alias Kartel aged 20, Godwin Agbenyefia alias Demon aged 19, Kingsley Adelekey aged 21 and Reuben Abusah alias Last Burial aged 20.
Per the report, the young boys have succeeded in defrauding a number of people in Akatsi and Ho in the Volta Region.
According to reports, they convinced members of some members of the community desperate for easy money to send them money via mobile money for fake lotto numbers.
Their mode and medium of operation are WhatsApp and Facebook groups.
After successfully luring them with the fake WhatsApp and Facebook accounts and defrauding of huge sums of money, they block their victims.
They have, however, been remanded in custody to re-appear on 23/9/2020.
Again, the fraudsters would send fake winning coupons to their victims and demand for them to make a contribution via mobile money before receiving their winnings from the NLA.
In addition, they would also convince people to wire them money for registration forms.
The NLA, however, has denied running a system where stakers register to be given lotto numbers and cautioned that any such people running such a program are scammers.
The Authority maintained that it continues to run a transparent system where stakers win perchance and that is why their winners draw is open to the general public for witnessing daily, except Sundays and public holidays.
