Michael Essien throw support behind gays and lesbians in Ghana

Ghana and Chelsea legend, Michael Essien has publicly declared his support behind LGBT community in Ghana.

The 38-year-old Ex-Ghana international waded in on the ongoing topic which has so far divided opinions among many Ghanaians.

He posted a rainbow-coloured broad ‘Ghana Supports Equality’ message of solidarity on his Instagram page.

In his post on Instagram, Essien called for more support for gays and lesbians in Ghana, insisting they must be heard.

His text read: “We see you, we hear you, we support you. Our LGBTQIA plus Community in Ghana #ghanasupportequality ????????????????”

This comes after President Nana Akufo-Addo boldly proclaimed that same-s£x marriage will never be legalised in his tenure.

Speaking at St. Micheal and All Angels Cathedral in Asante Mampong during the installation of the Second Archbishop of the Anglican Church of Ghana, the President said he won’t legalize same-s£x marriage in the country.

I have said it before, and let me stress it again, that it will not be under the Presidency of Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo that same-s£x marriage will be legal,” he said
