The Vice-President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has reacted to reports that he has another wife apart from Samira who is called Ramatu Bawumia.

Rumours have been circulating on social media that Bawumia was married to one Ramatu and had sidelined her for Samira to take the main position as Second Lady.

The rumours started on January 7, 2021, during Bawumia’s inauguration as vice president for the second term.

The Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, while mentioning names of dignitaries present, mistakenly mentioned Ramatu as Bawumia’s spouse.

A few days ago when President Nana Akufo-Addo presented the State of Nation Address, the NDC caucus in Parliament chanted that they wanted Ramatu when Samira was introduced.

This has further deepened the rumours on social media and even brought reports with a woman’s face purported to be that of the said Ramatu.

But in a statement signed by his spokesperson, Dr Gideon Boako, Bawumia has denied the reports saying he does not even know the said lady.
