Mud thwarts man’s attempt to dump his girlfriend’s body

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested a 38-year-old Evans Karani over his girlfriend’s killing.

Karani who hails from Githurai Kimbo found himself at the thick of things after his car which he was using to transport the body got stuck in mud at Waitethie Area in Juja (Kenya) .

Those who saw the car stuck in the mud got curious, moved close and noticed, in it, was a badly mutilated body of a woman who later turned out to be Catherine Nyokabi – 24 year old hotelier who works at Kahawa Wendani.

Detectives then traced the owner of the car through verification from the National Transport and Safety Authority NTSA only to discover that it belonged to the suspect.

On Friday morning, April 16, detectives, via phone signal, tracked down Karani to his rented house in Githurai Kimbo area, where he was arrested.

Karani then told police that they had a bitter 2 weeklong conflict with the diseased before she jilted him.

He also added that they have been dating for sometime now until he decided to suddenly stop her life.

The authorities said Nyokabi’s body had been burnt using a corrosive chemical.

“She was badly disfigured. Besides the burn injuries, she had bruises on the face and head,” a sleuth privy to the investigations told The Standard.

The suspect is currently being held at Juja Police Station for an arraignment on Monday April 19.
