The Egyptian team got their place in the final of the African Cup of Nations, after beating Cameroon (3-1) in a penalty shootout.
The victory of the ‘Pharaohs’ came largely thanks to the performance of goalkeeper Mohamed Abou Gabal, better known as Abou Gabaski, who excelled with two saves.

The Egyptian goalkeeper who plays for his country’s Zamalek, with very good reflexes, denied the cry to Harold Moukoudi and James Lea Siliki, who were in charge of the second and third launch, respectively, of the Cameroonians in the semifinal bracket.
One of the outstanding players of the tournament was the Egyptian goalkeeper, Abou Gabaski who saved two penalties in their campaign to the finals and also saved Mane’s penalty kick at the finals.
Gabaski due to the pain from their defeat reportedly forgot to take his water bottle along with him and left it on the pitch. His ‘magical’ bottle had information on the Senegal penalty takers ascribed on it.
