A pair of eight-year-old twins died from stab wounds before being thrown out of a window, it has been claimed.

Chelsea and Christy Cawley died along with their sister Lisa Cash, 18, in Dublin yesterday.

It is believed she was also thrown or pushed by the killer, who then covered her with debris from the house.

According to the Irish Sun, he murdered her as she tried to defend Chelsea and Christy.

A source said: ‘It was a bloodbath in the property and those poor children didn’t stand a chance.

‘The scene was horrific and all three victims suffered violent deaths.’

The bloodbath only ended when their brother, 14, jumped out of a window and ran to neighbours for help in the Rossfield estate in Tallaght.

He is in hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

Sources cited by the Irish Mirror say the suspect refused to comply with officers ordering him to put down his weapon when they arrived at the scene at about 12.30am.

As cops tried to reason with him, hethrew the twins and rushed inside, it was alleged.

The suspect was later found barricading inside the attic, refusing to surrender, and officers had no other option but to taser him.

He was then arrested before being brought to Tallaght Garda station for questioning.

The children’s mum, who was not in the property at the time of the killing spree, later arrived at the scene.

She was released from hospital on Sunday and is currently being supported by her family.

Speaking on RTE Morning Ireland today, the principal of St Aidan’s Community School Kevin Shortall paid tribute to ‘lovely big sister’ Lisa, who he says was babysitting at the time.

‘She was a quiet, beautiful young girl, very diligent, hard-working,’ he said. ‘Got on with her work.

‘Was a great support to her friends in times of trouble, I heard that from a number of people yesterday.

“She is remembered as one of the most honest, genuine young people, full of integrity and no fuss, no drama around her.

‘Got about her business and was hugely, highly regarded and very warmly remembered by so many staff members here in the school.

‘I couldn’t get over the things that people were saying about her. Just a lovely, lovely person, hugely highly regarded and will be terribly, badly missed.

‘I believe she was babysitting at the time, and that would have been something that she was just so good at.

‘She was the kind of person you could trust. That’s the person Lisa was.’

Foreign Affairs minister Simon Coveney said that the story ‘has stunned a lot of people’.

‘Like so many other people, I was just so shocked to read about what happened to two beautiful children and a young teenage girl.

‘For the community in Tallaght, for the school communities and obviously for the family members and friends of the deceased, this is really an incredibly shocking, tragic time.

‘Our thoughts are with them and I think I speak for an awful lot of people when I say that.’
