Mexico Shooting — Unidentified gunmen opened fire in a bar in central Mexico, killing 10 people, officials said.
Men with assault rifles stormed the billiard hall in Tarimoro in the Mexican state of Guanajuato at around 9pm local time (3am BST).
Numerous explosions were heard and police arrived to find nine bodies strewn across the pool hall “riddled with bullets,” according to Mexican publication El Universal.
A further three people were injured in the attack at ‘El Jarras bar, but one of the wounded died later in hospital from his injuries.
Chilling video has been shared on social media showing several bodies lying on the ground while a note left behind by the killers is filmed.
A number of gunshots are heard in the background as the gunmen continue their attack.
The killers left behind two cards signed by the criminal group Cartel de Santa Rosa de Lima, who claimed responsibility for the slaughter.
After the shooting, the cartel gunmen escaped aboard waiting vehicles and fled.
The Mexican National Guard as well as the army are carrying out patrols to track down suspects and have launched an investigation.
Tarimoro, a small town of less than 36,000 people, is in the south of Guanajuato state in central Mexico, 120 miles northwest of the capital Mexico City.
Cartel gunmen have wreaked havoc across central Mexico in recent months.
In May, 11 were killed in brutal attacks at a hotel and two bars in the city of Celaya, also in Guanajuato state.
A further five were injured as suspected cartel gunmen armed with Molotov cocktails stormed the sites in a coordinated series of hits.
