Who was Jennifer Aniston’s father John Aniston?

John Anthony Aniston was a soap opera actor born on July 24, 1933, in Chania, Greece.

Over the years, he starred in countless productions but was arguably best known for his role as Victor Kiriakis on the NBC soap opera Days of Our Lives.

He first joined the show in 1970 and portrayed the role of Victor until his death in 2022, earning him a Daytime Emmys Lifetime Achievement Award.

John was also known for his roles in Search for Tomorrow, Return to Zero, and The West Wing.

John Aniston cause of death

John’s death was first reported by his daughter in an Instagram tribute.

“Sweet papa…⁣ John Anthony Aniston ⁣You were one of the most beautiful humans I ever knew,” Jennifer wrote.

“I am so grateful that you went soaring into the heavens in peace – and without pain.”

Despite Jennifer confirming her father’s death, a cause was not revealed.

John died on November 11, 2022, and left behind his wife of 38 years, Sherry Rooney, his daughter, Jennifer, and his son, Alex Aniston.

In 1984, John tied the knot with his second wife, Sherry Rooney.

Like John, Sherry is also an actress and the pair previously met while co-starring in Love of Life.

She is known for her roles in Search for Tomorrow, The Fall Guy, and Doogie Howser, M.D … Prior to his marriage to Sherry, he was married to Jennifer’s mother, Nancy Dow.

During the divorce, Jennifer was 10 years old and it reportedly put a strain on their relationship.

“I went to a birthday party, and when I came back, my mother said, ‘Your father’s not going to be around here for a little while,'” Jennifer recalled during an interview with Rolling Stone.

“She didn’t say he was gone for ever. I don’t know if I blocked it, but I just remember sitting there, crying, not understanding that he was gone. I don’t know what I did later that night or the next day.

“I don’t remember anything other than it being odd that all of a sudden my father wasn’t there. And he was gone for a while, about a year,” Jennifer added

While Jennifer and John might not have had the best relationship growing up, in 2020, it was reported that she had forgiven him and that they would talk every day during the pandemic.

A source close to John told The Mail On Sunday at the time: “Jen forgave her father for walking out a long time ago. But their relationship has had its ups and downs.

“Jennifer didn’t speak to him for ages. But since the coronavirus crisis, she has been on the phone almost every day. And not just brief conversations.”

The insider added: “It’s like she has realized life is very short and she wants her relationship with John to be the best it can be. He’s thrilled that they have reconciled.”
