A missing hip hop artist has been found dead in a barrel hidden in the boot of an abandoned car.
Nesly Monterroso, 27, vanished three days before the grisly discovery was made on December 5 in Guatemala.
The rapper was last seen leaving an office she owned in Guatemala City, close to where her body was found.
She was killed by a strong blow to the head, according to The National Institute of Forensic Sciences.
Cops have launched a murder probe after her body was discovered in a car without number plates.
Local residents reported the suspicious-looking vehicle to the authorities and officers of the National Civil Police arrived on the scene to carry out a check.
The musician’s death was confirmed by the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Crimes against Life and Integrity of Persons who said the barrel had been secured with rope.
The motive for Nesly’s suspected murder is unclear and the police have yet to announce their line of investigation for the case.
Residents claimed on social media that Nesly’s body was found with signs of extreme violence.
They also claimed there was some kind of liquid in the barrel.
The authorities have yet to confirm these details, however.
The investigation into Nesly’s death is ongoing.
