Who is Maluma?
Juan Luis Londoño Arias, also known as Maluma, was born in Medellin, Colombia, on January 28, 1994.
The Latin singer, songwriter, and actor grew up playing soccer but during high school took an interest in music.
He chose to record under the name Maluma, which is a made up of the first syllable of his mum Marlli, dad Luis, and sister Manuela’s names.

In 2011, Maluma released his first single Farandulera, which grew in popularity across Colombia, gaining the attention of Sony Music.
His single Miss Independent reached No2 in the Colombian charts in 2013, with two No1 hits following in 2015 with Borro Cassette and El Perdedor.
Borro Cassette also saw his breakthrough into the top ten of the US Billboard Hot Latin Songs.
In 2017, he reached No2 in the US with Felices Los 4, but managed to top the chart in 2020 with Hawai, featuring The Weeknd.
Hawai also placed at No12 in the Billboard Hot 100, and #1 in Argentina, Mexico and Spain.
In 2022, he hit the No1 spot in Colombia again with his song Junio.
The Latin Grammy-winning star has released five studio albums with notable featured artists such as Madonna, Marc Anthony, and Shakira.
In 2022, Maluma launched Maluma Land, a three-day and night experience with performances from himself and many artists.

Does Maluma only produce music?
Not only is Maluma a singer and songwriter, but he is also an actor.
The musician has taken his talents to Disney’s Encanto as Isabel’s soon-to-be fiancé, Mariano.
Encanto’s Colombian location hits close to home for the Latin singer.
In a statement discussing the movie, Maluma expressed how magical Encanto was for him: “I’m from Colombia and the story is about a Colombian family.
“I’m proud to be part of this beautiful story.
“It means so much to me as I’m very passionate about sharing my country’s cultural values and story globally.”
Maluma hasn’t disclosed whether he would continue acting.

Is Maluma dating anyone?
Maluma has been dating Susana Gomez, an architect and interior designer from Colombia, since August 2020.
Though he enjoys keeping his romantic life as private as possible, the two have been seen vacationing in Europe, including their latest trip to Spain in July 2022.
Like Maluma, Susana seems to keep a low profile, as her Instagram account is private.
He was linked to Kim Kardashian in 2021, but the pair were said to be “just friends”.
He split with girlfriend Natalia Barulich in October 2019.
