Louisville shooting: At least five people were killed after a gunman opened fire at an Old National Bank branch in downtown Louisville, Kentucky, on Monday.

Louisville bank shooter:

The shooter, identified as a 25-year-old male, was employed at the bank, police said. The shooter’s “weapon of choice” was a rifle and he was shot and killed by law enforcement, police said.

The gunman live-streamed the attack on Instagram, police said. The video was subsequently taken down, according to the source.

A local hospital received nine patients following the shooting – two police officers and seven civilians, officials said.

Three patients have been released and three are in critical condition, including a police officer, authorities added.

Faces of Louisville shooting victims:

Joshua Barrick, 40, Thomas Elliott, 63, Juliana Farmer, 45, James Tutt, 64, and Deana Eckert, 57, had all been killed by Connor Sturgeon at the Old National Bank in Louisville.

Who was Joshua Barrick?

Barrick was the senior vice president of commercial real estate banking at Old National and was in the position for less than a year, according to his LinkedIn.

He had spent nearly 20 years in the banking sector, previously holding a similar role at WesBanco before moving to Old National in August 2022. In 2020, Barrick was named one of Louisville Business First’s 20 People to Know in Banking.

Who was Joshua Thomas Elliott?

Thomas Elliott was a senior vice president of commercial real estate at Old National Bank. During a news conference Monday, Gov. Andy Beshear said Elliott was a good friend who helped him launch his law career.

Juliana Farmer, 45

The last post on a Facebook page that appears to be Farmer’s was from Sunday, celebrates her expecting another grandchild to be born in September.

Who was James Tutt?

Tutt was the commercial real estate market executive for the southern region at Old National Bank, according to his LinkedIn profile. He started with the company in January 2015.

Oldham County Judge Executive David Voegele knew Tutt from his time on the board of the Oldham-La Grange Development Authority, from 2011-2022, including a number of years as its chair.

“He added a tremendous amount of insights as we went about developing our office park in LaGrange,” Voegele said. “He’s a very high quality, well-thought-of individual … It’s just sickening to hear what’s happened.”

Deana Eckert, 57

Who was Deana Eckert?

Eckert died Monday night, Louisville Metro Police spokesman Aaron Ellis said. She had been hospitalized earlier in the day following the shooting, in which five other people were killed (including the shooter) and eight were injured.

Eckert’s public Facebook page said she was an executive administrative officer at the bank and graduated from Western Kentucky University.

A man who fled the building during the shooting told WHAS-TV that the shooter opened fire with a long rifle in a conference room in the back of the building’s first floor.

“Whoever was next to me got shot – blood is on me from it,” he told the news station, pointing to his shirt. He said he fled to a break room and shut the door.
