Who was Torie Bowie ?

Growing up in Sandhill, Mississippi, track wasn’t initially on Bowie’s radar. But after some encouragement from those around her, she quickly discovered a talent for sprinting and long jumping.

Her success on the track led her to attend Southern Mississippi, where she dominated the long jump NCAA championships in 2011. But even more impressive was her performance at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where she took home silver and bronze in the 100 and 200 meter sprints, respectively.

And let’s not forget her pivotal role in winning gold as part of the 4×100 team. It’s clear that Bowie is a force to be reckoned with on the track. But what many people may not know is that Bowie’s journey to success hasn’t been an easy one.

As an infant, she was left at a foster home and was later taken in by her grandmother. Despite the challenges she’s faced, Bowie remains a true inspiration and role model for aspiring athletes everywhere.

Bowie’s star shone so bright it was a beacon of light for many, and the sports community will miss her greatly. Our deepest sympathies are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time.
