Badu Kobi ‘runs for cover’ as scores of women storm his church over tribal remarks

Scores of women on Sunday, August 4 stormed Prophet Badu Kobi’s church to demonstrate against his ethnocentric speech.

The demonstrators include Asante women, Fante women, Ewe women, and many other women who find his ethnocentric speech distasteful and bad for the image of Ghana.

The women protesters, clad in red arm and head bands carried placards bearing inscriptions such as “Fanti women are not stupid”, “Asante women are not greedy”, “Ewe women are not clueless”, and “Property owning is a blessing.”

The convener of the protesters, Gladys Afia Pokua of Adom FM, an Accra-based radio station, said the man of God’s tribal remarks could disunite the country.

According to her, the peace the country has been enjoying was due to its diversity of culture.

She noted that the Prophet of God ought to have used his platform to unite the various tribes in the country than to cast unprintable remarks on some of them.

It will be recalled that during one of Badu Kobi’s sermons he expressed his opinion on how he thought women from various ethnic groups such as Asante, Fante and Ewe behave advised against people marrying especially Asante women since he thought they were only interested in grabbing properties when they go into marriage.

Prophet Badu Kobi then advised all possible suitors to shun the intention of settling down with Ashanti woman to avoid troubles in the future.

However, there have been calls on him to retract his statement but he declined to do so. Badu Kobu insists he was speaking sense and he will never apologize to anyone.
