NDC opens nominations for regional positions

 
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) on Monday opened nominations for regional positions.
 
The nomination for aspirating regional executives ends today and all contestants are expected to present their forms by close of next Tuesday.

In an interview, Mr. Adams, National Organiser of the party, said elections of regional executives would be held on August 18, after the vetting process later this month.
“Nomination for regional executive positions opened yesterday, and prospective aspirants who are members of the party and qualify per our regulations could pick nomination forms yesterday, tomorrow and Wednesday. After that no one can pick forms for the regional executive position.
“Aspirants must return forms by July 24 with payment of their various filing fees and vetting will be done between the 1st and 6th of August,” Mr Adams noted.
 
Last month, delegates of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) voted across the country to elect constituency executives which forms part of the party’s process of electing national officers ahead of the 2020 elections.
The areas they voted include Odododiodioo in the Greater Accra Region, Bimbilla in the Nanumba North constituency, the Ashanti and the Volta Regions.

The Akatsi South Constituency election would have been marred by violence if the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) regional executives, the Member of Parliament for the constituency and security personnel had not intervened.
There was chaos at some polling centres after some aspirants accused their opponents of planting delegates along the ballot boxes to campaign even though campaigning had ended.
 
A Deputy Youth Organiser aspirant, Alex Doe Buadi alleged that the exercise was not properly coordinated and the election coordinators didn’t encourage fair contest among them.
He accused them of allowing some delegates to stand by the ballot boxes to campaign.
