Ryan Keeler was a Chicago native, and went to Nazareth Academy in La Grange Park, Illinois, for high school. He switched from Rutgers to UNLV last year. He participated in seven games and made a total of eight tackles. Keeler was an Academic All-Mountain West honoree and achieved a high-grade point average in pre-business.

As a redshirt freshman this past season, he participated in seven games and recorded eight tackles and one sack. Keeler got a 3.80 GPA and was named to the academic All-Mountain West team.
