Tori Bowie’s legacy

Born in Sand Hill, Mississippi, Tori Bowie showed athletic prowess almost as soon as she started competing, winning multiple state championships in track and field during her time at Pisgah High School.

She went on to compete in the NCAA for University of Southern Mississippi, where she won two long jump championships and placed highly in several other events. Her professional career began in 2013.

She competed in the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships and in the IAAF Diamond League circuit, among others.

She rose to international attention in 2016, when she competed in the Olympics in Rio. There, she won silver and a bronze as a solo competitor, and gold as part of the 4×100 meter relay team.

Bowie continued to compete through 2019, winning a gold medal in 2017 at the World Athletics Championships in London, and winning fans for her competitive spirits and bold personality.
