Who is Christian Luis Velez Ruiz?

Christian Luis Velez Ruiz is 25 years old. He is a resident of New Britain. As confirmed by the US attorney’s office, he has committed around 28 robberies of convenience stores, six armed carjackings, and three other car thefts in Connecticut between September and December 2021.

He pleaded guilty to five counts relating to some of the offenses he committed last year that led to his sentencing in the US District Court in Hartford.

But it’s crucial to remember that, according to the US attorney’s office, by entering a guilty plea, he accepted responsibility for every crime he committed while on his crime spree.

As reported by CNN, federal prosecutors contended that, as described in the government’s sentencing memorandum, Velez-Ruiz seemed to take pleasure in causing dread in his victims.

His theatrical manipulation of the pistol’s slide in front of the victim during almost every event highlighted his willingness to employ lethal force.

According to the sentencing memorandum, he would hold the gun dangerously close to the victims’ faces, threaten them with death, and demand money, cigarettes, and other items from them.

The memorandum also mentioned that Christian Luis Velez Ruiz seemed to enjoy holding his victims at gunpoint in a state of dread. It is suggested that this is the only explanation for how regular and vast his robberies were.

According to the US attorney’s office, the defendant entered a plea of guilty to a number of crimes in December, including one count of carjacking, two counts of interfering with commerce by robbery, and two counts of brandishing a firearm during and in connection with a violent crime.
