Anne Diamond Biography — Anne Margaret Diamond OBE  is a British journalist, broadcaster, and children’s health campaigner.

She presently hosts the weekend breakfast show on GB News with Stephen Dixon as her co-presenter.

Anne Diamond hosted Good Morning Britain for TV-am and Good Morning with Anne and Nick for BBC One, with Nick Owen.

In 2023, she was made an OBE for her service to children’s health and is the first non-medic ever to hold the Royal College of Paediatrics College Medal.

Who is Anne Diamond?

Anne Diamond was born on 8 September 1954 in Birmingham, Warwickshire.

Her parents were of Irish ancestry, although her father was brought up by his mother in Greenock, Scotland after his father went to Canada.

She was brought up in Malvern, Worcestershire, and she attended Worcester Grammar School for Girls.

Anne Diamond worked at a Butlins holiday camp as a redcoat and chalet-maid. She then began her career as a journalist on the Bridgwater Mercury and Bournemouth Evening Echo.

She began her TV career in regional news before going on to work for both ITV and the BBC, becoming a well known figure in daytime TV in the 1980s and 1990s.

Anne Diamond has also been a presenter on radio shows on LBC, Radio Oxford, BBC London and BBC Berkshire as well as a panellist on Loose Women and The Wright Stuff – a topical debate show hosted by journalist Matthew Wright.

In 2002, she appeared on Celebrity Big Brother alongside Mark Owen, Les Dennis, Melinda Messenger, Sue Perkins and Goldie, and became the second person to be evicted.

Personal life

Anne Diamond began an affair with Mike Hollingsworth in the mid-1980s while he was married to his first wife.

They married in 1989 following the birth of their second child, and went on to have three more children together.

Their third child, Sebastian, died of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS) when he was three months old. Diamond and Hollingsworth separated in 1998 after he had numerous affairs, and divorced in 1999.

Anne Diamond breast cancer diagnosis

In June 2023, Diamond revealed she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, and had undertaken a mastectomy as part of her treatment.

Speaking to GB News’ Dan Wootton, Diamond revealed she had undergone a double mastectomy in her “fight against breast cancer” – which she described as “a long journey”.

“I haven’t been on a world cruise, which is what I know social media has been saying… because I’m well known now for loving cruises,” she said.

“It’s been a fight against breast cancer. That’s what it’s been. It’s been a long journey. And five months later, I’m still not at the end of the journey, but I’m through it enough to come back to work.”
