A massive fire stunned onlookers before the flames gutted a building in midtown Atlanta on Monday.
Black smoke could be seen billowing over the Georgia city in a terrifying video shared by witnesses.
Atlanta Fire Captain Ronald Slatton said that he was initially told the building held vacant apartments but he could not confirm if that was the case.

As of 11.27pm, the fire was under control, though hot spots were still being “worked on,” officials told Fox5.
When firefighters arrived at the scene around 8.30pm, each of the building’s three floors were ablaze, Slatton said.
The fire was so bad that he had to call in a second alarm to recruit more manpower but they wound up pulling the firefighters and going on the defensive.
A cause of the fire has not been determined.
However, there was no power to the building, so he estimates a trespasser may have started the flames.

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
One person said on Twitter that they were evacuated from the area as the fire raged.

A restaurant on the side of the building was also evacuated as a precaution.

Upwards of 5,000 people were without power following the fire but as of 11.40pm, nearly all outages have been restored.
They tweeted: “Never a dull moment in Atlanta, fire crew made us evacuate but have no fear we’ve gone to the @FSAtlanta.”
