“I bought a gas can and tried to burn it out by throwing it at the business. I fired it up, and bang, it got on me, the man claimed as he fled the scene wearing burning shoes.

Authorities are reportedly furious that Norbu is back on the streets; they assert that they meticulously hunted him down and apprehended him for more than two weeks just to have him freed without bond.

“He plans to burn a store on fire. Why is he out the next day?” An angry Queens officer.

According to court documents, Norbu told the police that the Ittadi Garden and Grill in Jackson Heights had given him the wrong order when he had ordered the chicken meal that evening.

According to prosecutors and video obtained by The Post, the enraged suspect returned to the restaurant the following morning at 6 a.m. with a bucket of gasoline and was seen on security footage skulking around outside before dousing the restaurant’s exterior with the flammable liquid.

The man is captured on camera stepping into the gas and bending down to ignite it on fire before becoming enveloped in a ball of flames, along with the front of the restaurant.

Prosecutors claim that the fireball caused more than $1,500 in damage to the restaurant, shattering its air conditioning unit and damaging its glass windows.

After putting together the video surveillance footage and posting wanted posters over the course of the following week and a half, a team of NYPD detectives and FDNY fire marshals worked to find and apprehend Norbu. However, the firebug was released just one day after being charged, according to police sources.

Fortunately, nobody else was hurt save him, the Queens officer said. However, there was material loss.

The Queens District Attorney’s Office did not respond to a request for comment regarding whether they sought bail in the case or would have if they could have under the contentious state criminal justice reforms, despite the fact that the charges are not eligible for bail under those changes.
