Miss Argentina [Mariana Varela] and Miss Puerto Rico [Fabiola Valentin] shocked the world Thursday when they announced they got married after nearly two years of a secret romance.
The couple confirmed their marriage on Instagram and revealed the date of the ceremony was October 28.

“After deciding to keep our relationship private, we opened our doors to you on a special day,” the couple wrote on IG.
In addition to the message, they shared photos of the event and videos of their honeymoon, including sunsets on the beach and a bed full of rose petals spelling out, “I love you.”
They also shared a picture of a room full of candles, balloons, and “marry me” written on the window, presumably from the night of their engagement.
The video ends with them holding hands in front of a courthouse in San Juan, Puerto Rico on the day of their wedding.

Love at first sight for the two beauty pageant contestants.
Following the announcement, some of the couple’s Miss Grand International 2020 [MGI] colleagues left a congratulatory message for the newlyweds.
The newlyweds met at the MGI beauty pageant before promptly falling in love, according to Hola Magazine.
Varela, 26, won the Miss Universe Argentina pageant in 2019 and was a top 10 finalist in MGI 2020.
Valentin, 22, was a top three finalist at Miss Universe Puerto Rico 2019 and finished in the top 10 at MGI.

The event, which ended in March 2021, was won by Miss America [Abena Appiah].
After the pageant, both beauty queens shared images with each other on their respective social media outlets, but most believed they were just best friends.
