Billio played for the junior academy at A.C. Milan to start his professional career before being promoted to the first team. He later competed for Ancona, Ternana, Casarano, Verona, and Verona (all of which were in Serie B).
He made his competitive debut in a win over Newcastle United at St. James’ Park as a substitute after joining Crystal Palace in the Premier League in January 1998. Billio signed with Dundee in October 1999 after spending a brief time playing for Newcastle.
