What Happened to Edgar Garay?
The U.S. Coast Guard reported on Tuesday that a 27-year-old man died in Puerto Rico after allegedly falling from a 70-foot cliff in Cabo Rojo. Edgar Garay, a visitor from Indiana, had taken a day trip to the seaside.
Authorities from a number of agencies, including the Coast Guard, Puerto Rico Joint Forces, Puerto Rico Emergency Bureau, and Puerto Rico Emergency Medical Services Corps Bureau, searched all through the night and day.
Garay was last seen alive at the incident site, which is close to a lighthouse, just after 5:30 p.m. local time on Sunday, according to the Coast Guard. A 911 emergency operator informed the Coast Guard that something may have happened to the man more than an hour later.
A witness told the Coast Guard watchstanders that she saw Garay stumble toward the cliff’s edge when they subsequently arrived at the scene. And, on Monday afternoon, his body was discovered.

Garay’s brother Carlos Garay told WTHR that while filming a TikTok video, he was on the cliff with his cousin, who continuously urged him not to move too close to the edge.
According to Carlos Garay, “My brother had a TikTok account that he loved to upload videos to.” “Unfortunately, he was trying to accomplish it when he should have been farther away from the edge.”
The family is presently seeking money through a GoFundMe campaign to assist them in returning Edgar’s body to Indiana.
