Who was Bobby Caldwell?

Born on August 15, 1971, Bobby Caldwell was an American singer from New York City. Regarding performers he was inspired by, Caldwell has cited Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra, and Earth, Wind, and Fire as his main influences.

In 1978, he landed his first record deal with Miami-based music label TK Records. In the same year, his self-titled debut studio album was released and sold over 2million copies.

Caldwell’s most recognized song is his breakthrough single What You Won’t Do for Love. The single reached the top 10 of the Billboard Hot 100 chart and went on to become his signature song.

The track has since been covered or sampled by Michael Bolton, Boyz II Men, Tupac Shakur, Natalie Cole, and Snoh Aalegra. Throughout the next decade, he continued to regularly release music.

Bobby Caldwell cause of death: How did Bobby Caldwell die?

On March 14, 2023, Caldwell died in his sleep at the age of 71. He is survived by his two daughters Lauren and Tessa, as well as his wife, Mary.

For the past five years, he was unable to walk because of neuropathy and a ruptured tendon in his ankle. The cause of Caldwell’s ruptured tendon was attributed to a negative reaction he had to his prescription for his Achilles.

In a social media statement, Caldwell’s wife Mary tweeted: “Bobby passed away here at home. I held him tight in my arms as he left us. “I am forever heartbroken. Thanks to all of you for your many prayers over the years.

“He had been ‘FLOXED,’ it took his health over the last 6 years and 2 months. Rest with God, my Love.”
