Who Was Allyson Dierdorff?
Allyson started working with the Irvine Police Department (IPD) in 2005. Prior to her death on March 24, she worked as a Civilian Traffic Investigator after being hired as a Community Services Officer.
Several offenders who were involved in hit-and-run accidents and other vehicle-related offenses have been successfully detained by IPD thanks to Allyson’s perseverance and willingness to go the extra mile. She was organized, and professional, and paid careful attention to every last detail.
She joined the Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A. I. T.) after being selected due to her investigative abilities, working diligently with her traffic colleagues to help individuals affected by deadly traffic crashes find closure.
Over her career, Allyson won two honors for her outstanding performance. She was a Traffic Bureau member who won the Unit Award in 2014. She also received the highest honor given to members of our professional staff in 2016: Citizen of the Year.
Allyson was an Irvine City Workers Association Vice-President in addition to her work as a Traffic Investigator. She did it with care, humor, and compassion while being passionate about assisting employees and creating good working relationships with IPD and City leadership,

“We announce the demise of Traffic Investigator II Allyson Dierdorff with deep grief. On February 1st, 2005, Allyson started working with the Irvine Police Department (IPD). Prior to her death on Friday, March 24, 2023, she worked as a Civilian Traffic Investigator after being hired as a Community Services Officer. She had recently been diagnosed with a medical problem.

Monica Bagnara commented on a post, saying “Oh my God, this is so depressing. I stayed in touch with Allyson Dierdorff throughout the years while she looked into the near-fatal accident in that my husband was involved in 2012. I’m shocked and I send my sympathies to the Irvine PD and her family.”
Tammy Kim was shocked after hearing the news and sent condolences to her family, “One of the first people to greet me after my election was Allyson. She will be missed, for sure.”
Lauren Johnson-Norris mentioned, “Allyson was a beloved friend and a hero in Irvine. She consistently supported me and was a shining example for my girls in this neighborhood. I’m heartbroken to learn about her death. Wishing her husband and family peace at this difficult moment. Be blessed by her memory.”
Lynne Billie said, “Allyson, thank you for your service. In the IPD, you were highly esteemed. I wish you a peaceful rest. We pray for the family’s fortitude and bravery at this trying time.”
