On the 3rd November 1987, Colin was born in Milwaukee Wisconsin in the United States of America to his biological parents Heidi Russo, a white lady who was nineteen years old at the time she conceived, and an African American dad whose identity is not known. Colin’s parents separated before he was born. His mom Russo put him up for adoption.
He became a member of Rick Kaepernick and Teresa Kaepernick’s family when he was five weeks old. Though born in Wisconsin, Colin moved to California with his family where he became actively engaged in football.
He had his high school education at John H. Pitman High School, in Turlock, California where he was a full-time athlete, playing basketball, football, and baseball earning him a nomination for all-star selection in all three sports during his senior year.
The 35-year-old is an alumnus of the University of Nevada, Reno where he got a scholarship to play football. He joined the college football team, Wolf Pack in 2007 and played actively throughout his years in college.
During the 2011 NFL draft, Colin was selected by the San Francisco 49ers as the 36th overall in the second round. He played for his team putting up a superb performance.
However in 2016, during the NFL games, Colin decided to kneel instead of standing as a way of protesting against racial injustice, police brutality, and oppression. He became a free agent after the 2016 NFL season ended and has not been signed by any NFL team to date.
