Doyle Brunson, known as the “Godfather of Poker” for his hard-earned legacy in the game, died aged 89 in Las Vegas on Sunday.
Doyle Brunson’s death was confirmed by his family, who shared a statement on social media through his agent, Brian Balsbaugh.
“It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of our father, Doyle Brunson. Please keep Doyle and our family in your prayers. May he rest in peace,” the family of the two-time world poker champion said.

Brunson Brunson was born on August 10, 1933, in Longworth, Texas, and grew up in a small town where he developed a love for basketball and poker.
Brunson attended Hardin-Simmons University on a basketball scholarship but was forced to quit the team due to a knee injury.
He then began playing poker more seriously, and by the mid-1950s, he was making a living as a professional gambler.
