As he took to the Pyramid Stage, fans of the Rocket Man singer, 76, were left concerned after he appeared to “struggle” to walk.

Why does Elton John limp?

Sir Elton John has been open in discussing the health issue that left him walking with a limp.

After suffering from a fall that left him with an injured hip in 2021, the singer said: ”I’m limping a bit. I’ve had to postpone limbo dancing for a little while.

“I’m going to have my hip operated on early in October and then I shall be recuperating and doing my physiotherapy and hopefully I’ll be all right in a couple of months. So fingers crossed.”

What happened to Elton John?

In 2021, The Sun exclusively revealed that Elton John suffered a nasty fall during his summer break that left him in “considerable pain and discomfort.

As a result, the singer was left with no choice but to have hip replacement surgery, after walking became increasingly difficult.

Following his fall, Elton John was forced to delay his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, with UK dates pushed back to 2023.

A source said: “Elton is naturally gutted by how things have panned out but his health has to come first.

“He will undergo an operation for a hip replacement in the coming weeks before beginning an extensive recovery plan.”

In November 2021, much to fans delight, the superstar singer was pictured after being made a member of the Order of the Companions of Honour by the then-Prince Charles at Windsor.

Elton John reassured fans: “I’m still raring to go,” as he walked with a stick following the operation.

What has Elton John said about his hip?

In 2021, the pop legend opened up about his fall that left him requiring surgery.

In a statement at the time, Elton said: ”At the end of my summer break I fell awkwardly on a hard surface and have been in considerable pain and discomfort in my hip ever since.

”Despite intensive physio and specialist treatment, the pain has continued to get worse and is leading to increasing difficulties moving.”

He added: “I have been advised to have an operation as soon as possible to get me back to full fitness and make sure there are no long-term complications.

“I will be undertaking a programme of intensive physiotherapy that will ensure a full recovery and a return to full mobility without pain.”

Two years later, in 2023, the 76-year-old revealed how he was back fighting fit for the final leg of his farewell tour after the surgery.

He said: “I get up, have breakfast and go for a walk in the pool. At my age that is the best thing I can do. I walk sideways and do about six miles a week.”
